A long hike in a fantastic weather with scenery reminding of The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit.
Since so many people have asked us about hiking recommendations in Romania, especially hiking near Bucharest and Brasov, we created this guide in which we describe in detail our favorite treks in the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului mountains.
If you follow this guide you will hike for 3 days on the most spectacular trails in the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului mountains and reach the best viewpoints.
If you’re looking for an easy to moderate day-hike near the Bran Castle, we recommend taking this beautiful circuit hike that goes around the village of Moieciu de Sus and high into the Bucegi Mountains.
Moieciu de Sus is a resort village situated in the Rucar-Bran Pass, at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains, surrounded by hills and mountains of amazing natural beauty. It is located just 10 km from the Bran Castle and 40 km from the city of Brasov.
The weather had been bad for the whole week and we knew it was going to get even worse the day we’d hike.
Omu Peak is the summit of Bucegi. From Omu Peak you will have some nice panoramic views of all the mountains and valleys around. Also, the ascend from Cabana Malaiesti to Omu Peak via the Malaiesti Valley is beautiful as well.
